Case Study - Huge Jockey
The hosting of Royal Ascot at York in 2005 provided Imageco with one of it’s most challenging and exciting
custom graphics briefs. A local ad agency wanted to use an historical relic in the North Yorkshire Moors as its advertising space. Etched into one of the Hillsides in Kilburn is the famous White Horse. The idea was to print a jockey, put it on top of the horse and then do a photoshoot.
The printed jockey was to cover 588 square metres and measure 28 metres in height. The experienced Imageco team and its state of the art roll to roll printers made this project happen with amazing results. Many factors such as material, weight, transportation method and how the massive custom graphics would be assembled were all taken into consideration before production took place.
The jockey was printed onto Mesh in sections and then welded together to make giant jigsaw pieces. These were then assembled on site and attached to the hillside. A helicopter then did the simple part of taking the picture which was shown in local and national press the following day of the incredible custom graphics.
